[This is based somewhere in the timeline just after Jo and Ellen die haven't decided on a specific point...]
A few days after the devestating blow of Jo and Ellen dying, the Winchesters are broken. They got some of their best friends, and greatest allies killed. With Ellen and Jo out of the picture, and Bobby still in a wheelchair, the Winchesters don't see much hope. They are back to being just the vessels to Michael and Lucifer, with no way to kill the devil and two of the only hunters in the world who trusted them were dead. Castiel had also lost hope, he knew he would not be able to find god, and Lucifer was gaining followers fast. With death out to party it meant no one was safe. The angel of death was dangerous.
Then it happened. Out of nowhere Sam and Dean were back in Bobby's home, exactly when the photo was snapped of them all. Each and every one of them remembered exactly what had happened on that fateful night the Winchesters tried to kill Lucifer. The only difference was someone else was in the room, well three someones. The first was a girl sitting on Bobby's desk, much to his dislike. She was a half angel, the daughter of Michael, though she held no sypathetic feelings for her father. Next was a guy, a half demon. He was standing only a few feet from the girl, but well out of the shot of the camera. The third was a demigod, a daughter of Zues, she was standing behind the boy. The three of them had known eachother since their birth. They had enough power collectively to shape the world to their liking but they did not have perfect control over it. They did however, know thaton the path that Sam, Dean and Castiel had been on before time had jumped back would have resulted in the end of the world.
Halflings had nowhere to go once the world had been destroyed. They were not accepted among the ranks of heaven, nor the depths of hell not even the heights of Mount Olympus. No other place would take them in so they were determined to keep the world in order. Of course to do this they had to break hundred of thousands of laws layed on them by each of the gods and goddesses around the globe. They would stop at nothing to win the war for the Winchesters.
There was a war to be waged. Demigods, witches, even a new breed of humanesque creatures called shadow walkers were popping out of the woodworks. Some were on the side of Lucifer, and some supported the Angels. Others just didn't want the world to end and supported the Winchester brothers. With Death out to play things were getting ugly.
